If you have pot joints there are two types one as fitted to minis and a different style as fittted
to Metros. They are different in the style of the boot. I have no issue with upgrading to pot joints
and there is always a chance your car is a revin. Over the last 52 years I have owned
more minis with messed up paper work than correct. Steve (CTR)

Thanks, yes the year is confusing me! And that is indeed a great point that one of the previous owners updated to the pot joint. Like me, there might have been confusion with replacing the original part!

I thought that the pot joint drive was not introduced until 1974. However, that does not mean a previous owner of your car didn't change the gearbox or its output drive type to use pot joint axles. I don't think there is a distinction between early and late pot joint or their boots. You should be able to use BHM7012 or GSV1073. Others with later cars than mine will have to confirm this.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and to the wonderful joy of owning a car older than myself!
I bought a 1972 Mini 1000 late last year and stored it through winter. In the process of getting it 'road legal', I've had it inspected for anything that will fail inspection. One issue that's come up in that the 'inner cv boot' needs to be replaced (though seems minor to me when the brakes barely stop the car)!
So I believe I have identified that I need an Inner Pot Joint Boot (or Gaiter). Only problem is, I cannot find this part pre-1973 or 1974 or 1976. The various sources are vague on the starting year, except for not including 1972.
Would anyone know if this is even the correct part for a 1959-1972 Mini? If it's the correct part, should I ignore the specs on every website. If it's not the correct part... what is the correct part?
