Well, it's been 6 months since this thread was posted. Has anyone been able to contact Michael yet? Surely someone in Southern California has some information? Doesn't he have any friends that talk to him periodically? Still wondering how or why someone so visible in the Mini community just falls off the face of the earth! Well, at least BAT. is doing fine without his bidding on every Mini they list but never actually bidding to win!

Gentlemen, Please, Just remember , there are two sides to every story,

I am in no way trying to debunk KRDeniss’ story, it stands on it’s own merits

But , in a case like this, the courts will decide, so let’s all take a step back and see what plays out

Unfortunately there are a lot of scams out there. I saw a moke online and said it was restored and the price was $13,500 including shipping. I sent an email to the person. They emailed me back and it had scam written all over it. The car was in the mid west and said they would ship it anywhere and shipping was included in the price of the car. I said I was in the same state and can pick it up instead. They said the car was with a shipper and was packed and ready to ship and I could not come and pick it up. It was her husbands who passed away and she was recovering at home from surgery and did not want to deal with the car, so she worked with a shipping company. Yeah right Lady.

What I hoped to convey was that the buyer obviously sent him more than ten Grand by check. I thought the total amount of the check was 18 but you clarified that it was actually 23. Great! Very good money for a Choke! At any rate, he had to cash or deposit that 23k in his bank. They have to (by federal law) inform the government on any activity involving 10k+ amounts. It's also a fact that he was holding those funds until the buyer took delivery, so I know it was at least a week. Now, the issue isn't him doing anything wrong to us, but if he's selling cars when he was ordered not to by his state then he might have legal issues with California. If he claims to be just a broker, then that too could be a problem if California requires a Brokers license or if California restricted that when they said he couldn't sell cars anymore. I don't know and really don't care. I know he was always careful about the wording in his ads and on his website that he placed buyers to friends of his that can't post for themselves or something along those lines. Anyway, back to the 23k in and 18k out a week later? The feds know this and what's going to be their thoughts when he does this sporadically throughout the year? If they think he's doing some form of money laundering and doing it through the US Mail, then both could be issues. One might need a paper trail to defend against one scenario but not needing a paper trail for the other! At this point perhaps he could claim he was nothing more than a waiter where cars are on the menu. The bill was 18k plus a 5k tip. 27% ain't bad for a tip! In the end, no one knows what's going on. Not me, BC, Spank, etc because Michael has gone silent.
Just a thought (if he has retained one) maybe he is acting on his lawyers advice.

Without going into detail, is there anyone on this forum who has suffered a first-person monetary loss at the hands of ML? I've been a member here for 10 years, and whenever his name comes up, there's no shortage of people who want to tar & feather this guy, yet I cannot recall anyone claiming to have incurred any actual damages. Perhaps so. I'm just curious.

Seems to me if the buyer sends money to Michael and he has to cash the check or deposit it, the government knows of all the transactions over $10k. The banks are required to furnish that info to the government. Anyway, if someone deposits an $18k check for a Moke then a couple of weeks later (ML doesn't release funds until he knows the car is delivered and the customer is content with the sale) he sends Big Al a $13k check IN CANADA, the Feds.may suspect money laundering. Perhaps he keeps good records? Hmm, money laundering or se)I cars without a license in California? Showing them the paper trail could save you on the one hand and burn you on the other. Tough decision for sure. At any rate it's all speculation. All we know at this point is that his site is down and he won't respond to calls or texts, which is highly unusual for him. Anybody have connections with "48 Hours", "60 Minutes", or "20/20"? I just hope when they find him it's not buried in a shallow grave in Earl NC...Nah, Bill has PET skunks but even he couldn't stand the smell of a dead ass decaying!

Are these DMV legal actions based on Facts? Who knows for sure that he was arrested? I have purchased several cars through MIchaels referral. He simply connects me with a seller and I essentially tipped him.

I have known Michael for many years and have tried contacting him numerous times over the past months with no response we from text, calls, emails, and social. I have written a letter to his house and still no word. If anyone has dealt with michael you know this Man never misses a call or email. We have had many of his customers call us looking for him and I don’t know what to say. Hopefully he got a bunker and has been off grid or something of that sort. If anyone hears from him or his family please let us know
