I agree with Dan's assessment.

How many miles on the car?

Does the engine consume oil? or coolant?

Any indication of oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil?

Has a compression or leak down test been performed?

Coolant can enter the combustion chamber in the engine, or it can be introduced into the exhaust at the turbo...

Depending on your answers to the above, there may be other repairs / maintenance that can be done if you are pulling the engine....

To me whitish exhausts suggests a coolant leak, which may not show up on a compression test. Coolant doesn't burn but is converted to steam.

Bluish smoke, especially on decelleration suggests oil being sucked past valve guide seals and being burnt to produce smoke.

More constant bluish smoke suggests a more significant oil consumption, probably due to rings or less likely from an oil passage channel leaking into the cylinder or intake.

Blackish smoke suggests poor combustion.

No idea what oil or coolant leakage into a turbo or supercharger might do, but the smoke colours would be similar. Probably wouldn't last long though....

I was wondering what brand would you recommend?

Problem: I have white smoke coming from the exhaust and wanted to replace my head gasket, even though it passed the leak test performed by one of the technicians. Since i am taking out the engine, might as well replace the timing chain. Any step by step for replacing head gaskets? Not really seeing it for 2012 Mini Cooper S on Youtube.
