I really don’t know what the problem was. After about seven tries I got it fixed and now the lock engages into the nine hole rail. Only broke one window and chipped two others. What in the end after seven tries got everything back together the way it was and now it works correctly. Thank the mini god that I had a spare set of of sliding windows I bought about 15 years ago from a member on this board.

I've found that installing window channels properly is one of the most difficult things to do on a Mini and get right. On my Traveller I put some washer material (I used cork) under the latches. It doesn't look very good but I didn't want to do the job again.

I am changing the lower rail on my sliding windows. Everything fit right before I took it out. Figures. Now I’ve done this four or five times now and each time I try it I end up with too much gap between the window rail and the lock. It just slides over the holes in the rail...any ideas what I can do to take up some of the gap??
