The wider part goes toward the outside. Hopefully you have a softer rubber set. I had a few that the rubber was too hard making the door hard to close.

Hello all,
Could anyone provide a picture of the proper placement of the door check-strap seal position for a Mk-III?
I got the car as a basket case and I don't know which is left or right, fat edge up or down, and alignment on A-pillar.
This picture would be of great help to me right now.
