I'm using Autometer gauges. Yes, it has a working (and actually accurate) fuel gauge.

My point was "fuel tanks is fuel tanks .." (to mis-paraphrase an old oil ad) .... you don't need the $900 version...

Shouldn't an '88 have the 7.5 gal tank anyway???

Cheers, Ian

The "crazy" price i was referring to was the 600-900 dollar heritage tanks,NOT the $350 reproduction one. Lol

I have a classic tank in good shape that I would let go of for less than crazy
would be shipping from Colorado, has been dry long enough not to cause concern.
no rust or old gas smell. has cap and Maybe straps

".....The genuine ones are crazy priced..."

I suppose it depends on your definitions.... $349 doesn't seem toooo pricey (even for a tightwad like me :) .

Depending on your tolerance for non originality... all ..and any.. (sedan type ;) Mini tank can be used on your car .. perhaps with a little ingenuity needed to accomodate different mounting systems.

But thats true (and part of the fun) for pretty much anything on  Mini.

Cheers, Ian

IMO The old tank can be cleaned and sealed if need be as long as there are no large holes in it. there are a number of videos on line about how to do it yourself, and there are shops that can do it for you. I am sure the reproduction tank is fine as well. These two options will maintain the stock tank location and the sender which I assume works with your gauge.

Started playing with the Mini again after tucking it away in the garage flr the last few years.Taking the fuel system out and replacing it all and i pulled the fuel tank and popped the sending unit out and it is SUPER crusty in there looking through that hole. The little pipe inside is all crudded up. Its a Left hand tank and the car doesnt have a factory gauge cluster in it any more...

#1 id like to get a New tank. Are the reproduction ones ile our host sells any good? The genuine ones are crazy priced. If i were to run a fuel cell what have you guys done to retain the stock fill location and have it look stock?
