I've been using a Bosch Blue coil with my 123 distributers in multiple cars across multiple engine configurations and even in race conditions.

Installation instructions say "stock coil or high energy coil, primary resistance not below 1 ohm". A high energy coil is always better because you can increase the plug gap to get a bigger initial burn.
