Last night, I watched an one day EV conversion on a VW Beetle. In the back ground, you can see a surf blue mini. Could that be a coincident?

The YouTube guy reduced the weight on his front suspension, I'm guessing about 20lbs. Aluminum hubs, upper A arms and brake calipers.
Certainly a nice setup.

Based on the research I did before deciding on a conversion, the weight issue didn't seem to be a significant issue. Any negative impact of small additional weight was outweighed (no pun intended!) by an improved weight distribution between front and rear.

I remember it being talked about in the video with the 300hp Tesla powered Mini found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKWe1R1bWOM
They said it added 40kg (88lbs).
One other conversion I've seen said that their set up was just over 100lbs additional weight. Which isn't too bad considering how much weight other EVs have on them.

Simple recipe for Excitement: Take 1 Classic Mini. Throw in 1590cc's of engine. Add 5 gears. A dash of 94 octane. A sprinkle of style inside and out. Toss in 1 MadMan and finally heat tires and pavement to taste. Recipe produces 1 Mini VTEC conversion and full satisfaction. Motor on!

I just wonder how many pounds (weight not money) the mini weighs after the conversion. The joy of driving toss able light weight mini.

Not into the EV way of driving yet. Holding out. The only whining from a car that I would like is a supercharged gas-powered engine.

I heard that those conversions start at 30,000 pounds.... The 'plus' side is that it is totally reversible (in case you get tired of the whining engine noise ??).

In this time where car makers and garages a-like are creating all kinds of EVs from scratch or transforming existing ICE vehicles,...here's another.
In case you haven't heard or seen, MINI has now thrown their hat even further into the ring. They already have the new style MINI EV, and now they have agreed to "re-produce" the Classic Mini and turn it into an EV from the factory.
Here's the links:

It stems from this Mini at the NY Autshow a little while back, that they said they wouldn't build, and was only a one-off:
