Depends on your definition of a 'good scanner'...
If you are just looking for engine related fault codes, most any code reader will read the codes on the MINI.
Some will give definitions for the codes. Some will give items to check for repairs. Some will provide realtime engine data. Some will reset airbag errors. Some will register new batteries. You pay more for these extra features, generally speaking.
