2002 Mini won't idle after fixing vacuum leak

what symptoms before you did the repair?
my thoughts:
disconnect the hose from the PCV. Plug the hose. See if the car runs/idles normally. If it does, then a defective PCV is allowing way too much air into the intake and it is bypassing the normal idle control and/or mass airflow sensor so you are running too lean to be able to idle.

I fixed a vacuum leak on the tube coming from the pcv valve the throttle body. now the car won't idle. starts then dies. will stay running with my foot on the pedal. no codes.
