A guess:
Traction control systems typically uses wheel speed sensors to determine if one wheel is slipping compared to the others. When it determines excessive slippage, it applies brakes to the other wheels to "correct" the condition. You may have a faulty wheel sensor or circuit and when your car speed falls below a certain level (i.e at 1000 rpm) it triggers the brakes to come on causing the engine judder, louder exhaust etc. When you shut off the ignition, the system resets.

Keeping the revs above 1000rpm may be providing enough voltage to overcome the problem with a sensor (bad connection or inappropriate response to voltage).

Again, just a guess.

.

I have a 2004i Mini Cooper S with 195k miles... ive had her for two years and ahes been great up untill the last two weeks... still runs, perfect but once the engine gets to tempature, if i go under 1000 rpms, or stop the dynamic stability/traction control light comes on ... then the engine starts vibrating hard and its like the power is greatly reduced and the sound from exaust is even louder...

Ocassional the oil pressure light will also briefly come on after thecT/C light appears...  thing is if i turn the car off and restart if fixes it untill i stop aain or go under 1000 rpms... if im at a red light and as ling as im in nutural and reev past 1000 rpms everythings fine...

Only thing to note 2 and a half weeks ago i over filled  my oil by almost a quart...

Anyone have any ideas... could a failing/faulty dynamic sta.                                                                                                                          bilty/ TC system cause my issue???
