It may also be the knuckle joint below the Adjust-a-Ride trumpet. It is basically a stell ball sitting in a plastic cup. The plastic does wear out. When I put my A-Rides in many years ago, I noticed that the stem of the knuckle that fits into the adjustable trumpet was a larger diameter than stock.
You can get just the plastic cups and replace them. Usually, when they wear out the ride height ends up being lower... tires start to rub on wheel arches, even with stock trumpets. Yo put the new cups in, you cut the old ones out, clean the pockets, including the vent hole in the bottom. It lets the air out as you press the new cup in. A thin wipe of light grease in the pocket can help the cup go in.
