New Cooper S Hub for vented discs.

Top, old Metro hubs (didn't fit with vented discs)  Bottom, new Cooper S hubs (they fit!)

Update:

I checked the flange, could not find any serial, but looks like the metro flange so suspect this is correct. When i measure the distance from the tire bolts to the hub on the old setup vs the new with vented discs, the bolts stick approx 1cm further out. Is this normal, and i would need a spacer back? I read somewhere that the normal problem is that one needs to take of some material on the hub, but in my case its not.

Also, when i split the disc and the flange, the hub goes almost flush to the hub. But when put together the flange stops in the bearing, hence limiting the disc to travel flush to the hub.

Any tips?

I remember helping a friend do the swap from metro brakes over to vented discs with KAD 4 pot calipers about 14 years ago.  There were some areas that needed a bit of grinding here and there but nothing major.

Not unusual depending on the age of the hub - I had this earlier in the year with normal 2-pot calipers.

At some point in the 80/90s a small lump was added to the hub, which catches on the caliper and prevents the bolts from engaging threads.  You can file a small amount of material off either component to get them to fit; i filed the hub as the caliper is plated.

To do that, reduce the photo file size and drag and drop the file name of the reduced copies into the big green circle to the left of the of the window you typed your post into.

A vented disk is thicker than a solid disk because it is essentially two disks with spacers and air space between them, so naturally they'd have to stick out a little. I don't have vented disks, but I expect part of the thickness is taken up in-board, which would explain the interference you encountered, and partly out-board, which would explain why they stick out.

They are up now:)

When I had a vented disc setup made using Honda Civic items I had the same issues. Had to grind some on the hub and the mounting plate to be able to mount the caliper closer to the hub. Also grind some on the outside of the caliper for it clear the inside of the wheels. Then make sure any wheel balancing weights were far enough in to be out of the way of the caliper too.

Hello!

I just bought some used vented brakes and the 4 pot calipers from minispares. The one side fits, but on the other i need to take of some metal on the hub where the caliper bolts goes, is it normal with some adjustments?

Also, when i put the vented discs on, they stick somewhat further out, hence the wheel will also stick further out. See images below. The caliper seems to be aligned over the vented disc, but some mm in difference and the difference in space makes me question the setup. Any advice?

Regards PK
