Sorry guys, my tranny is a Rod Change. Willie B, the bushings are original, so they are 30 years old. I have yet to addressed the shifter and shifter housing as part of my rolling restoration. I guess it's time to replace those rubber pieces. I'll give it a try.

You could wrap something heavy around the shift lever although somewhat unsightly. This changes the vibration frequency of the shifter and stops the rattling.

How old are the rubber hanger parts for the shift housing? The rubber could be hard from age and not absorbing the vibration. Any part of the shift system that is worn can allow vibration, from the coupling just out from the trans on to the shift housing.

What can I do to stop my gear shifter from rattling? I have a generic short shift in it. Had it for 30 years. Do you think the ball is worn? Does the KAD short shift rattle? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks Jim
