This may not be the case, but many relays have the same physical layout (shape, size etc.) but do different things. Similarly the sockets have the same configuration, typically 4 slots, though not all may used. Though 2 relays may look the same, their internal functions may differ. (Some may not even be a relay but a simple shunt to connect 2 car wires together.}

I have relays in my fuse box in engine and they are 5 pronged but there is only 4 slots how come??? I have mini one convertible 2004 1.6l 90ps
