Standard cylinder head studs need to be replaced about every other rebuild because they tend to stretch after being torqued more than a few times. This stretching gives a false reading when torqued, leading to head gasket failure. (Con Rod bolts and Main Journal Studs fall into the same category)! The remedy is to replace the studs with standard or competition grade studs, see HSA11 for COMPETITION Grade stud kit.
