Question:
I'm looking at the AWD subframe for a Classic Mini Cooper. I want to put in a B-series motor using one of your front subframe kits. Would you recommend the MTB3 or the MTB2?
Answer:
Unless you are set on the flip front end I would say the MTB2. The Mods for the MTB3 would include fiberglass work and changes to wheel offsets. It does come with the proper axels shafts but so does the AWD kit itself.

Question:
With the Miata hubs, is there a part to retain the factory Mini bolt pattern or do I need to find wheels that fit the Miata bolt pattern?
Answer:
The bolt pattern will be the Miata bolt pattern; 4x100mm - Minis are 4x101.6mm (or 4X4").
Likely you won't be able to go with anything larger than 13" wheels, though.

Question:
Does the donor CR-V have to be a 5 speed Manual, or could you do an automatic version?
Answer:
The subframes are built with manual in mind - they are lighter, can handle more power and smaller, with the right mount locations. However, with some modifications I have seen automatics used - you will need custom axles.

Question:
I am planning a conversion of an 89 Mini to an AWD. Please kindly specify all parts necessary apart from Honda parts which I need. If you have any instructions of the fitment and modifications which are required to the body please kindly send me also information.
Answer:
As the description states this kit requires: 1996-2001 Honda CR-V All-Wheel-Drive manual 5-speed drivetrain (complete transmission with inner front and rear cv joints, shifter with linkage cables, main driveshafts, and rear differential 'pumpkin'). Any Honda B-Series engine will fit the CR-V transmission. This kit will work using our MTB3 Front subframe (and MTB2 subframe's with slight modifications). Use 1990-1997 Mazda Miata rear hubs, rear outer cv joints, and disc brake components with this kit. This frame utilizes coil-over shocks.

The instructions are pretty basic, as the subframe bolts up just like the original. The require body modifications are easily made using the included panel (there needs some clearance in the rear seat/trunk area for a differential loop)

Question:
Do you sell a complete all-wheel drive kit with engine, brakes, suspension? Everything needed, and do comply for road use in Australia?
Answer:

We sell engine packages frequently. These kits are about as complete as they can be for the conversion parts, but there are still several systems you will need to fabricate on your own to complete the job - exhaust, fuel, ect - we estimate about 100 hours required of fabrication.

As for the rear subframe, kits to allow for swapping in an AWD drivetrain - they are just the subframe. You will need to source the driveshaft (likely custom), rear brakes knuckles, differential, ect. We list the parts required and how to find them HERE.

We do not have information on the legality of such modifications, it's best to check with your local government to determine that.

Question:
I'm planning on doing an awd honda engine swap on my 1976 Classic Mini. I already have the 2001 honda crv and just want to verify what parts I need to be removing before I sell/scrap the rest of the crv. From what I understand it's just the engine, transmission and linkage, driveshaft and rear differential. And maybe associated parts like ECU, but I'm not sure. Can you tell me exactly what I need to remove?
Answer:
Here is the link for the AWD kit with notes. https://www.minimania.com/part/MT361000/Vtec-Mini-All-Wheel-Drive-awd-Subframe-Kit You might look at the 2 videos we have posted on the vtec swaps.

Question:
I already own a B16 swapped classic mini and I would be very much interested in purchasing your AWD conversion kit. I have a complete 4WD HRV as donor car. Will those parts (rear diff and disc/hubs setup) fit in your subframe kit or will I need other parts or even modify the subframe kit?
Answer:
This kit is designed using the following parts in mind for the conversion:
1996-2001 Honda CR-V All-Wheel-Drive manual 5-speed drivetrain (complete transmission with inner front and rear cv joints, shifter with linkage cables, main driveshafts, and rear differential 'pumpkin').
1990-1997 Mazda Miata rear hubs, rear outer cv joints, and disc brake components with this kit.

We not familiar with the difference between a Honda CRV or HRV - some modification might be needed to make that work.

Question:
What are the body modifications required for this setup?
Answer:
For the AWD kit, the manufacture includes sheet metal insert and instructions for modification of the rear floor section where the differential goes. Other than the rear floor modification, no other body modifications are needed for the rear subframe.

Question:
Will this AWD subframe work in a 1968 Austin America?
Answer:
The Austin America has some similarities to the Mini Cooper like the engine, but the vehicle is so different that the Mini V-tec subframe will not fit.
