Mini Cooper Ignition coils come in a variety of types. The oil filled coil is the "Traditional" way to make a coil. The Epoxy are designed to be more rugged for things like off road racing or very high vibration. The epoxy ones are said to be for applications where there is high heat, vibration or nonvertical installs. Note- the factory coil is oil filled and is mounted horizontally with years of great service. A 3 OHM coil is used on all cars that do not use a ballast.
