Thanks.
This is what you can do with manifolds..... Before and after (this is for my Renault Dauphine). That is Rustoleum BBQ paint on the exhaust manifold.

Richard I think your polishing trim piece is outstanding. I did that on my light brackets and now am looking at my grungy manifold with a hungry buffer wheel.

Thanks for this resource. On page 21, there is a pasted-in section of an oil spec sheet or label and parts of it are cropped and unreadable, maybe that could be adjusted.
I look for JASO spec oils for use in motorcycles and in Minis, specifically because the JASO-MA and -MB oils are for use where the engine oil also lubricates the gearbox.
Updating this post a bit, since the MA2 motorcycle oils are out and some mini's have the automatic transmission to deal with.
I have now purchased an engine/automatic transmission combo and when I get it on the road I plan on using the MA2 motorcycle oil for to protect the clutches. It would not be my primary choice in a standard engine/trans. setup.

I fixed the part you mentioned, and also edited my original post to add the transmission link. I mention the combined compartments on page 2 of that paper.

I'll try to dig out the original and fix that. Probably got messed up going to pdf.
But you shouldn't be looking to motorcycle oils. They are designed that way for the wet clutch or belts. A CI-4 motor oil will give you much more protection.

Having realized that I hadn't updated my oil paper in about 2 years, and that people are still downloading it 11,000 times a month (between the English and Spanish versions), I decided to review it and update it.
I originally wrote this for my Corvair friends, but it applies to many of the older cars, especially those that need the extra proteccion in the shared engine/transmission compartments.
Will it end all the oil questions? no, nothing will. But it should put to rest most of the myths and get people on the right track saving engines.
The English version is up, so you can click on the link and on over to the new version.
