If you're asking me about buying the cooler, I can't help you. Depends on where you buy it. I believe you can fashion a ledge on the lower side of the grille opening by bolting a flat piece of aluminum or steel to the existing metal on the opening. Other folks will have other ideas on how to mount it. I'd not bother cutting the inner fender unless you put an electric fan on there somewhere. I'd start a new post about this.

Sorry to hijack your thread. yeah I was going to cut the inner fender wall for circulation. On Guam it is always 90 degrees all year round. My !35i see's temperatures of 220 on regular driving. If I buy the 10 row oil cooler will it come with the brackets to install it?

Doug, that's sweet. Thanks.

Allives- An oil cooler is like a radiator in your car. If no air is passing through it, the cooler won't do much cooling at all. It will just add extra capacity. It needs to be mounted behind the front grille.

Mike, Henry already posted my document but here's a second link.  It has pictures and a template for making your own brackets.

Be certain that you are actually getting the oil warm before you add an oil cooler.  Chances are, you don't need one.  Furthermore, modern engine oil is far less fussy about temperature than oil from 30+ years ago.

For the oil cooler to work in that spot, you would need to cut the inner fender.  Not worth it in my opinion.  You could place the cooler behind the grille in the airflow and it would work better than having it on the inner fender, but since you likely do not need the oil cooler, just concentrate on doing mods to the car that improve it.

I plan to install an oil cooler I replaced from my Evo. It would fit on the opposite side of the radiator in the engine bay. Here are some pictures, do you think because it will be mounted higher will there be an issue with oil pressure? Thanks

Darn. I shot several pictures of my brother in law's engine before he hauled it home. It had the factory vert oil cooler mounted. I knew people would need that info some day. Of course I can't locate the pics now.

I've got a vertical oil cooler with a home made lower mount. Anyone got a pic of the cooler showing the lower factory mount? mike
