Yes CAM4004 is a late A series 998 air injection head, as used here in Oz (with air pumps) on 998 Clubbies, ~1976-1978. Also used on early A+ in UK I believe.

Yes `smog' (air injection) heads were use on 1275s in the same period, but these were 12G1316. Much the same porting an early 12G940 head.

Isn't that a late A ( maybe early A+ ) head?....typical for late MkIV models sent to CA

The plugged ports would be for the air pump....I think some ADO16 1275's sent here had air pump heads also.

This is by Dr Mini and is off the AU website. re: ECAM4004

"998 smog head, common garden variety.
Valve sizes are same as the old 850 & Deluxe, but they use the later 1275 type collets.
You can hog `em out and fit bigger valves to be as good as a 295, but boy there a lot of metal to move first. A 202 takes less work."

i have a 9 stud head with numbers i have never seem before.. what is it?

near the thermostat it reads 10M5 and has the letter A next to the exhaust valve/rocker post on the other end it has ECAM 4004 and GM stamped it also has some bore holes into the exhaust ports with plugs in them ? some kind of emission control?
