Hi Spank, Removed the trans today, Took photos, will list what you get, part numbers I could see, and what happened, but not why, also the price . I do like the thought of helping get a car properly together. My long term background is with early Mustangs., I have a 65 A code GT fastback, with a rare K code 289 Hypo, this 1071 reminds me of the Hypo quite a bit as just about nothing is the same as a standard 289. This equipment is now much more about the history, and not how to be the fastest. I hope I can help you out, will send e mail as soon as I can, sorry takes me some time to upload everything. Cheers Tim.

I'm all about "easy". As-is,is fine. I'll decide if the price is worth the risk.
I don't really need a transmission, but whatever you want to do. Again, as a seller I very much value "make it easy on me" so I try to treat other sellers the same way. For the record-- this is for my personal use not to resell or anything like that.
Decide how you want to present it and shoot me some details and a price. My email is in my profile.

Hi Spank,
I could work a deal like that, The block is AEG151, has an oval tag riveted on the back opposite the casting number stamped 1070, engine tag on the front is gone. Would it be more fair to take it apart, or just a # as is, I can send some pics as well. I also have everything to set up a + ground, remote shift 62 vintage setup short the preverto parts and the trans is a 4 syncro 22GH28. My heritage cert and the car shows it as a 62 997 cooper so I have no real attachment to it. Cheers Tim.

I've been sitting on a thin flange 1275 S engine (Block, crank, head ((complete engine)). I said engine, no transmission, although I may have one.
Cranks seem to bring stupic money. Seem to bring good money in the UK for complete engines.
Not sure to sell it or shelve it .

Onetim: I could be interested in your 1071 but I'd rather not try to influence you on what it is worth. I neither want to encourage a high price nor do I want to suggest an unfair price.
Once you figure out what you'd want for it, please email me and let me know. I'm not one for haggling much nowadays: I say Yes I'll pay that or No, but thanks for giving me the chance.
I have a 1071 car with no motor. And the 1071 motor a friend on this forum sold to me I fear has been re-appropriated by someone I had entrusted to machine it for me.

Purchased the mini with this engine all rebuilt about a year before. It ran great, about the same power as the stock 1275 in it now, just showed up as clutch problems, would not fully disengage. I did all the typical clutch fixes with no result, then pulled the wok, found some Al shavings, removed clutch, flywheel put a dial indicator on the crank stub and measured, all with the engine in the car. Not a fun start to the mini experience.

.062" end float? Isn't it supposed to be about three thou? How did that play out (no pun intended)?

Hmmm, just noticed this is a 5 year long conversation, well I guess there is no substitute for taking your time and choosing your words carefully.

Whats a complete 1071S worth? No tic's, smoke, or knocks but .062" end float due to improper rebuild.
