Apparently the message board reverted back to my old email address. I see about having the webmaster for this site see if it can be fixed again.

Meanwhile: mplayle13 -at- gmail -dot- com.

I sold the DCD a while back, but will gladly try to answer any questions if I can.

Tried to send a note to your personal email address about your DCD, but the note bounced back as undeliverable.

Spoke with Alaric off-list. Got good information regarding questions I had. Since the old Weber DCD I currently have is being slightly erratic and is hard to find parts or service, I'm going to give one of these a try.

Any more news here, don?

I'm very interested in this project.

Can we look forward to MiniMania stocking this carb/linkage setup as a kit for purchase?

I assumed it would be a difference in economy and performance. I would venture on the side of performance. I didn't really start building the engine to be a gas sipper in the first place, obviously. Thanks for solidifying it.

I would think a 45 noting that the common solution for an engine suchas yours would be an HS6.

I suppose its in the fine print somewhere , but is does the HSR have a fixed or variable venturi??

Cheers, Ian

Based on the information on the site linked, I would be inclined to say a 45mm for use on a 1380 as it is the equivalent of a 1.75" SU. For a stock 1275, either the 42mm (1.5" equivalent) for economy or the 45mm for performance. (Same kind of pros-cons as determining between 1.5" and 1.75" - what is engine spec and its needs; what is your desired outcome economy versus performance?)

I've been considering one of these for a couple years now, but I wanted to know a few things. How does the linkage hook up. What is needed to make it work with the stock linkage. And what size would be ideal for a 1380 with a Kent 286. I have been torn between the 42 and 45, but leaning towards the 45.

There was no kits years ago when I got it. I is easy to tune or just take it to any motorcycle shop they deal with them all the time.

They is a lot more space with these carbs that it one of the best things about them. If any one close wants to play with the 45mm I have needles and jets and tubes slap it on and try it out.

Still, an interesting option worth considering and further research.

This might be a viable option.

I have only tried it on my car (1380) so I should not be saying it will work on any car. I made the
accelerator cable from parts I bought from a motorcycle shop. Any manifold that take s a SU can be used as there is a SU adaptor. You should be able to see it in the picture I posted. I am having a choke cable made at a shop very soon it will start with out it on a warm day.

Kinda looks like the one I have been using on my car the last 6 years. Works great. This is the 42mm I have a 45mm as well.

It appears to be one of the  Mikuni HSR Carbs. I like like the idea that Don always wears protection on his master cylinder!
