If a test with the rocker assembly removed and full oil pressure reached proves positive; i.e., get proper flow through the head, check that the oil feed rocker is over the oil hole in the head.

Kevin, I'm wondering about his test method, With the rocker shaft removed all cyls will be building preasure as much as a single stroke anyway. Most engines don't show OP till a couple of revolutions. If the plugs are removed and the engine spun on starter till full OP is shown on gauge perhaps a pulse feed with start. I keep a note from KC on the wall above my desk about installing front cam bearings correctly. Full time oiling is hard to control.

It is possible to find very worn rockers and shafts on high mileage engines. The only other thing I can think of is a worn cam bearing. I have seen a few that as they wear the bearing material dose not wear in the groove area and masks the oil flow. Is this a high milage unit. My last 998 went 187,000 before a blown hose seriously over heated it. Even with regular oil and filter changes and reasonable care I expect to find wear when I strip it.

That oil feed up to the rockers is not full flow. It just gets a small spurt every cam revoultion. This is determined by the hole in the front cam bearing shell, and a groove cut along the cam journal.
If you crank it over with the rockers removed there should be a series of spurts, one every 2nd engine rev, this is normal.
If there is hardly any flow at all, perhaps the cam bearing has rotated in the block.. or was not fitted correctly. It's easy to fit it wrong when replacing it... but usually then you get full flow, not no flow!

I have a 998 with good oil pressure on the gauge (50 psi), but I am getting very little oil to the rocker arms. I took off the rocker shaft and pillars and turned the engine over but only a few drops of oil seem to emerge from the hole under the pillar. This must have been going on for awhile because the rocker shaft is worn badly and I have purchased a new one with rockers. What is causing this problem and how can it be fixed?
