Very Nice- Elaborate reply ! ===  I can only offer sugestions, and some real world experience. Most people have clapped out suspensions and expect the most.  YOu have built a very sold base!

Your suspension setup sounds - PERFECT - Ideal and just right for a fast Street setup.  With that I think - you have some comprimises to make.

I went out and checked my  cars to offer some comparison.

My 63 - Spax Lowered- adjustables - Hi lo's  - bump stops are new all round poly and are full  and intact.   10' wheels
Front ride height 20.5  Rear ride 21.25 - ish === I feel this car rides reasonably well for being LOW - and stiffly susspended on Older cones- and turned up adjusted shocks. - Im not expecting this car to ride great- and my wife knows thesame - but the car corners like on rails - VERY FLAT! I love it, we live with it.  - keep me off concrete freeways however this car

My late model SPI however - i am keeping near stock as possible- 12' wheels  -Just added hi lo's to adjust the ride height - Original Rear cones now on the front - and new cones going into the rear next week. Shocks will remain stock- for their pliablity and softness. Front ride height right now  21'  Rear 22' - I take more passengers in this car and need the clearance.

In time im trading for a full set of Moulton Smootha ride cones- so i will be able to tell how good or bad they are to a reasonably new set of cones.

I feel this car is alot more comfortable over all terrain just because the suspension has more abliity to work and move.  - 12' wheels have a slightly shallower side wall - so stiffen up a bit-  but this car is for sure more comfortable on the road.

I could tell the suspension difference in a half inch of height on the early 63 . too low - too harsh .

For your setup - Being a bit lowered- I would question if your shocks are actualy able to work in the Lower range as thought -  Adding the camber arms  - doesnt help the suspension move either- and cut bump stops allow the front arms to move more into the  crash range.. giving a harsher ride too.

I would continue to play wth your setup -   erhaps - Raise the suspeion .5 - 1 inch-  see where that takes the over all ride.Of course that will change all your camber settings- but if your complete suspension is working for you better -then it should offer a better ride.

I feel its a trade off in every way  - plush ride - more body roll - not as connected to the road  - VS:   firm and stiff- connected but harsh.

Goodluck

OH - Perhaps Hyacinth just wants some more attention from you  vs. your attention to the mini!  I know how that goes!  ORR she's keeping you away!!  by requesting you to work on your car more and mroe.

Here's my car's suspension:  the car sits pretty low. I have the ride height adjusted such that the drive shafts are parallel to the garage floor (or road surface) when I'm seated in the car, the rear is adjusted ¾" higher as measured at the rear-most corner of the outer sill bodyseam lip-moulding.

The rubber cones are 2 or 3 years old, Ripspeed HiLo's installed, FAM3968 standard cones (rear), C-STR687 (front), C-AJJ3359 top damper bracket (front), C-AJJ3361 upgraded lower pins (front), progressive bump stops C-AJJ4007 with ½" shortened and re-profiled rubber blocks (front), KYB gas-just dampers  because they've got the greatest range of travel and compress shorter than most 'performance' dampers (front + rear), adjustable tie rods 21A1091 (front), 1½ degree negative camber lower arms C-AJJ3364 (front), offset bore poly bushes C-STR632 (front), adjustable negative camber brackets MS70 (rear) adjusted to 0.25° positive camber with MSC CK17 shims adjusted to neutral toe.  On my list of things to do, I've got to modify the MS70 brackets to get a tiny bit more negative camber in the rear - the screws supplied aren't long enough.  I've also got an anti-roll bar C-AJJ4009 (rear) sitting in a box somewhere, just haven't had time or the need to install it yet.

Don't know how much detail I should have given; I could have just said that it's not worn out.  I was originally just curious to see the the re-located brake pipe and to see how much of the rubber block meets the corner of the boot.  And no, considering her age, Hyacinth isn't fat...

Jeg,

lease elaborate on your current setup  -

How high /  low of a ride height ar you running

Hi-lo's installed?

performance shocks of any type?

How are your cones? Age- and Height?

Adding bump stops to a car is simply cushioning how a suspension part reaches its final movements - to also avoid crashing into body parts and such.

If your suspension is worn out  - Cones are Flat- then you are already fighting a loosing battle.

Flat cones have and give no smooth Suspension movmement . ride low  and abrupt springy inputs.

I just went thru some suspension adjustments on my car -  I knew my front cones were squished and end of their life. I swapped Rear cones for Front cones. and added HI lo's to balance all out=  Once the swap happened,, the front now rides great! has cushon and movement- however the rear now rides like a brick susspended with a rubber band . Very Harsh- Very Abrupt and the Hi Lo's are about maxed out - The stock shocks cant keep up withthe movements.

Im keeping all at stock ride height too!

Im preparing to install new rear cones and a set of adjustable shocks to bring everything nice and in control.

Tell us more before you throw a part at your setup that is just masking the situation.

It looks cheap enough, but I have the other set already.  Curious - what did you do with your brakepipe?

With a dry Mini you might want to try these.   //www.minimania.com/web/item/C-SRP015/InvDetail.cfm

I know of two people that have these and are pleased with the results.

I'm considering installing a set of rear bump stops (triggered by recent drive with wife Hyacinth as passenger, I really wouldn't mind if she rode shotgun occasionally) and am interested in seeing some pictures; particularly of the hydrolastic-type (C-AJJ3313 //www.minimania.com/web/Item/C-AJJ3313/InvDetail.cfm) installed, as I've got these already.  The mini has a dry suspension.

Thanks -
