I'd go with 5.5 US qts. that includes filter fill. If you have a 13 row cooler and you drained that as well you might get 6 qt in. Steve (CTR)

Most Mini's that i have changed the oil on take 5.5 quarts although one samll bore used to use the first pint and then stay at that level which was the minimum mark.

tinovdv,
How about posting up a picture of the Mini dipstick, the Suburban dipstick and a ruler for scale.|
Something seems totally wrong with your discriptions. I would estimate the dipstick on my 850 at about ten inches long.... I couldn't imagine anything over twenty inches could be right.

I'm gonna go with 'wrong dipstick' as well. There was somebody else here in the Forums a couple weeks ago with the same problem, but they did happen to know that the dipstick was indeed incorrect for their engine. I also have the wrong dipstick in my Mini. It took six quarts to bring it up to the mark. Noticing the blowby, I drained the oil, put in five quarts, and used a hacksaw to etch the new oil fill line! Worked like a charm.

Specs call for 4.8 liters, so imperial doesn't come into it . I tried a new dipstick, courtesy of Cup Cake.  I will continue to add oil until I see it on the dipstick and will post the results.  I did fill the filter prior to installation as well.  It does have a small leak too, at the diff oil seal, but I need to order another. On another note, how do you get the old dipstick sleeve out of the block, easily? Thanks for posts.

LitREs and quarts......almost the same measurement.

Have you checked the floor?  ( bad joke, yes )
Perhaps wrong dip stick...?

Holy cow....what filter holds almost a litre?

1 litre and a US quart are more or less the same. Specs are probably in Imperial quart which is is 20% bigger. Fill it up until you hit the max line. Presumably you filled the oil filter which holds almost 1 litre.
