I didn't try heat... and the molassase trick will mean dipping both ends of the subframe in the stuff... I just don't have the time and patience for that. I will probably get someone with a plasma torch to remove the nut at some point... in the mean time I just need a good cheap replacement. If I can salvage them later, then I'll have spares for the next car.
I am going to try that molassase trick with some other parts.
As for using other bolts... well I already have the new bolt kits!
Thanks for the advice though... thats what I love about this forum...

I assume you have tried penatrants? Did you soak in molasses/water (1 part to 3 H20 mix) for a few weeks? Can you apply a little heat?
You do not have to use the later big trunion and large rubber bush, you can use earlier style - bolt pattern is the same just 1 shorter 5/16" bolt. The later trunion with big rubber bush was to help reduce the harshness of the Mini's ride...similar to rubber tower bushes and rubber/steel front mounts to floor. You can switch to cast spacers for tower and steel to steel mounts in place of the rubber/steel mounts.

I am in need of two rearsubframe mount trunions (the two that mount to the rear mounting panel at the front of the rear sub). I am looking for two that fit 1979/80. Used, in a condition that I can clean and repaint them.
I removed my rear subframe to start working on the new rear frame. The old subby was so rusted, I just can't remove these trunion mounts... at all!! Insane amount of rust.... so much rust that one of the radius arm shafts actually stayed in place after I removed the arm!!! Seriously had to hammer the arm off the shaft....
Anyway, I saved the other mounting trunions that mount in the boot area... but I need the other two. Hoping to find some good used ones for cheap so I can progress.
Preferably someone in the east US/Can.... I'm in the Ottawa Ontario area (not Nova Scotia like the profile says...)
Thanks!!
