I hate doing this. Unfortunately, I got into a routine of doing it at every oil change. Remove plug, check for scoring, re-install plug.

I can't believe there's not a real permanent fix for this out there yet. I beveled the rear edge and polished it up a bit, but any time there's even the slightest bit of grit, the cylinder section gets jammed up.

I had a similar episode around 2 years ago, all of a sudden came off the highway to find that the oil pressure was nearly nothing.  Had to keep the rpms up to keep pressure up.  Fortunately, only 2 or 3 miles from my garage, limped 'home' and found that the highway speed had dislodged a bit of metal from the sump's nether regions and jammed the valve.  I got off easy; cleaned and polished it up, reinstalled it and it's been fine ever since.  Scary, though -

I replaced the valve with a new one of the same....not a bearing

Did you replace the plunger with a ball or just remove the burr and install the new spring?

So....I found out why my oil pressure was lower than I'd like.

The new spring that I installed was about 1/2cm longer than the old one also.

Filled with VR1, installed Wix filter.....pressure is now fantastic.

Check those relief valves!
