I've replaced all of the flex fuel lines will ethanol resistant type because the old lines were swelling. I now run a 75/25 mix of VP fuel T-4 unleaded (100 octane) and 93 pump (max 10% ethanol) The car runs much better than just the 93 pump gas. Trying running some real gas in your car and you'll be pleased at how much better they run than ethanol laced fuel. I do a around 3k a year so I end up using around 75 gallons of the T-4 which isn't cheap but for driveabilty and performance it is.

Definitely a problem if left sitting.  Found this out after being stationed in Japan and only getting back once a year.  Even tried fuel stabilizer, no joy.

if the vehicle components were designed for it AND it has regular usage, there is no problem.

older boats with infrequent use, high humidity setting, and over-winter sitting often have water/fuel issues with gunk that gets broken loose by the ethanol fuels. You can still get plain gas ( no ethanol) at many marinas and even gas stations near marinas. People also prefer them for power tools like chainsaws and hedge trimmers that sit for long periods of time. I do. I have had fuel issues clearly related to ethanol in this particular setting, and I have a lot of small engine experience.

Here is one example of a manufacturting defect:  About 5 years ago I bought a new mower with a Briggs engine, supposedly ethanol rated components. After ONE DAY, it would not start again, the fuel in the tank had turned slightly pink . I dumped it, disassembled and blew out the carb and its clogged main metering orifice,  and tried again. Worked for a while .This scenarion repeated itself several times until I found that the red bulb primer had dissolved into goo, hence the pink-tinged fuel.

My Swedish host's SAAB wagon uses 85% Ethanol but we did not discuss hoses or other operational issues.  He runs a '59 Mini 848 (built Sept. 26/59), a Moke (has a 2nd Moke under resto with his son) and a '62 Cooper with 1310 on pump fuel and I did not ask if there were separate fuel pumps...will do so.

Several Classics were on the road, at our gatherings or going out for events...will be interesting to see how they address the subject...including if they need to.

I've been using 10% ethanol fuel in my British cars for over 30 years with no problems.

Sticking valve. start a new topic from another thread.. - Ethanol in our fuel

-- My father is a full time briitsh Mechanic.. Customer brought car in - running on 3 cyls.- Back history - Car had a full head rebuild 4 years ago -  normal job -  car then parked - sat 4 years.  Owner wants to drive again- Now  this issue .

Valve cover off-- one of the push rods is not under the ball of the Rocker Arm ..   He manually presses the valve down- re inserts the rod where it should be- lets off the valve -- With 70 PSI spring pressure-- the valve STRUGGLES to return in the UP / CLosed position.

He checks other valves- Others are JUST AS SLOW - amzing they do close to give enough compression.

Head off-  DIssassemble completley - and clean all THE VARNISH and Tar from each valve each valve now moves freely and easily.  Re install head- fully fixed issue.

Ethanol in our fuels has been causing issue with small eninges - are our little A Series next?

What about -the rubber fuel lines - should we be concerned?  As he completes fuel system repairs he is replacing rubber hoses wtih "ethanol approved fuel hose , AKA   Ethanol Proof " for  safe practice  by the inch!

Thoughts? how many people put NON Ethanol fuel in their cars now? Should this be considered for a car that sits?
