What we are looking at here is, the Homeland Security,DMV, MOT Department & anyone else who is a do-gooderi wanting to get headlines, or political brown nose stripes

They started out on a crusade against Land Rover Defenders , 110 models and ended up bringing classic minis into the drag net-

Some one told the investigators, all 10 inch wheel minis were legal everything else was grey market (illegal)

And now, all RHD minis are suspect as they found out all JDM (Jap mark minis), are illegal

But just remember all minis ever made (classics) are fully legal in Canada after Jan 1st 2015,

Maybe it's jealousy on some ones part !!!!!!

What a wasteful and sad reflection on the society we live in today and at some point when our planet runs out of raw materials this is going to look pretty dam foolish.

But did you notice that the crusher kept swinging the Mini around in the air just by the wheel and tire and it wouldn’t break off - impressive!

I think I spotted an un-touched lug nut that could still be salvaged.

The 1973 OZ Mini Van was fully legal on import to Canada, underwent glass and lights inspection by government official, mandatory safety inspecion by certified shop (got the decal) and then...we were almost killed when run off the highway at +60 mph by a speeding transport truck while crossing Iowa.

The Iowa State district patrol Captain said they would keep an eye out for the South Dakota transport rigs.

Yup, safety that's the thing!

(photo - the rig that ran us off the road and then the sedan in front on the next rise...driver was probably asleep...safety sure)

I, for one, would like to know how the Department of Homeland Security got involved in this. ?????

Aren't they supposed to be standing around airports costumed as Smurfs?

It's a real shame but, if whoever imported it knew what it was, they knew the risk. If they didn't know, I hope they have some recourse with the seller.

Stretch that over your illegally imported Mini and the feds would be no wiser!
"Hey Earl, is that one of those illegally imported Minis that is threatening the national safety?"
"Heck no Carl, it's a patriotic American in a CAMARO!"

I was about to post this, you beat me to it..

It seems so unneccesary, the leather seats looks to be so nice.

Also, I think the number of $30,000 for parting out a Mini seems a bit high.

ouch for the buyer who paid good money i am sure, kinda silly statement " But because I, as a a law enforcement professional, know that vehicle is not safe to be on the roads because the Vehicle Identification Number has been changed" changing the vin plate suddenly made it unsafe, how???
