I like how my 6" stainless steel mirror fits the original holes.

really appreciate your offer but moving to Hif entails the need to change my manifold and exhaust system, right now i have the manifold and exhaust attached together like a siamese twin, i dunno why uncle Alec designed it that way, same as the radiator without a drain pipe.
recently someone here said that i can ask the Locksmith to make me a key that will work with door lock, gas lock as well as the back bonet lock and ignition all in one, i think it was zippy who said that.
i just went to the locksmith this afternoon and told them that,,the guy just laughed at me and said no its not possible. ... you got me zippy!!!!
A question not asked or answered by me.
The Moke was one of the first with a "keyless entry system" so, I really would have no knowledge of this door lock idea.
Flyinace2000, this all started with the original poster not being able to figure out how to properly remove and replace his rear view mirror..... and went downhill from there.
it never went downhill, it was successfull actually, now i have vintage all stainless steel frame rear view mirror, im the only only one who has it installed on a mini, among the 5million minis manufactured.

Installing the HIF series carburettor could be done with your existing manifold if you really wanted to; you'd simply use the 2 diagonal studs instead of all four. The HIF44 would benefit from the alloy intake and either the freeflow exhaust or LCB, but the HIF38 would certainly work with what you've got. Of course, there's really nothing wrong with what you've got and any one of us could perform miracles with your current setup just by cobbling it together the right way, using the right parts.
Very good reason for the stock cast manifolds, also covered in the Articles pages. The manifolds are cast together basically for temperature stability and fuel efficiency reasons - less likelyhood for carb icing in the winter and warm and the warmer intake charge year round gives better fuel economy from leaner mixture. Very sensible indeed.
As far as doorlocks, so much to choose from:

I installed this kit in my mini:
//www.minimania.com/part/BARREL%20SET/Barrel-Set-Mk3-Door-And-Boot---Mini--Mini-Cooper-S
Easy to install, eliminates the need for a different boot key.

He didn't lie to you. I'm no lock smith but I've re-keyed a new ingition switch to match a door key.
Hope that guy was skinny because he isn't worth his own weight as a smith. He most likely didn't want to deal with it.
Doesn't make as much money. Is/was your gas cap key the same as your ignition switch ? Haven't seen that. Your door and boot lock sure, I've never seen the gas cap key the same (would be cool if it was).
Zippy was trying to help you. Sure, you piss him off just like me and just about everyone else, but he is very knowledgeable and wouldn't on purpose lead you astray. He would give you the shirt off his back (and from your picture you could use one).
You've been doing well, don't derail this train.

HIF44. Fit's only one engine at a time...
The carb you've got is a 1½" HS4. HIF44 is BIGGER and has the integrated float chamber, not like that vessel hanging off the side of the carb. HIF series carbs are more modern.

Well, don't think it unfair if I offer it for sale or sell it to someone else. I haven't 'advertised' it for sale other than the initial post in this message thread; I've given you 'first' shot at it, other than the unsolicited offer that I had received previously. The prospective buyer found one closer to home and chose it over this one to avoid international postal fees/delays.
So, fair warning, it's a good HIF38 in great condition and it'll be gone soon.
I do have a 13/4" HIF44 that could possibly benefit from rebuilding that I'll let go for the same price if you're interested. I haven't looked at it yet other than to check that it's complete; I bought it in a box o'bits and have only moved it to a box o'carbs.
Lemme know -

Tony, I've got an ultrasonic cleaned and refurbished HIF38 carb for sale ($200.- including shipping to the U.S.A.) if you'd like.
Edit: Anyone else can have a go at this also - it's a good carb and this offer isn't restricted to only Tony. I've already bubble-wrapped, packed and weighed the package; it's ready to send anywhere.

I'm ok with him not liking my ideas. But when he says he's going to slander me and blatantly make up lies, I get defensive. I was actually nice to him even after he went crazy and called me a racist. Offered to help him fix his carb problem and offered a great price on a freshly rebuilt carb with new parts. Then he tells people to email him directly so he can tell lies that I would have no way to defend against. I'm simply putting all of the facts out there because i'm an honest person and I don't want him spewing lies behind my back.
Not everyone here likes me. That's ok. I don't like robster. So when I post help in his threads, there isn't much kindness in my tone. But I don't provoke him intentionally. And I definitely don't care to "argue" with him. If I post something in response to him it's usualy because I have proof he is wrong.
With all that said, I think too many people enjoy the train wreck here to let it die. Mostly because they aren't the other train in the wreck. And I think it's clear from other posts (where I wasn't even the one who commented) he attacks me and It's someone else entirely. He has something against me.
No big deal if he dislikes me. I'm not exactly actively seeking his friendship. But taking it to this level gets a response out of me. Especially when the leadership doesn't care to stop the food fight.
i proved that you did not show the full context of the conversation and that you intentionally edited some words to make it appear that i was wrong.
and so indeed, it wasnt a direct sale, it was a bidding, an auction. you already commited the sale to the other guy, and secretly fishing for a higher bidder and if you get the price you like you will tell the other guy that he was outbid meanwhile the poor guy is expecting that you and him already had a gentlemans agreement. and with 50 bucks more ,its all gone....
buyers beware

Think you're barking up the wrong tree.
All the people on the list have better things to do.
I wish robster/Velocity was a figment of my imagination.
Don't think there's enough Red Stripe to create those kind of posts.
Edit, I was going to show you velocity was posting while I was at the National championship game, but, you know what ?
I don't care enough. You'd probably say someone like zippy was posting for me.
I'll value your opinion when you have an opinion worth valuing .
I like to keep things light, but on a serious note I could give a S*** less of what you think.
By the way, I've been to Dallas, but I didn't shoot JFK either. And to borrow a favorite saying of velocity/robster .
