Original 75 pickup tank, cleaned, with a Toyota in-tank pump, keeping the original float & sending unit. Epoxy sealant is supposed to arrive today.

Good that should make it easier for you.

So what are you using for a FI gas tank ?  Just curious and wondering if you used a modified stock pick up tank ?

Mine is an early (1992) SPI, hopefully without what you say. came with a normal key.

Richard all spi's except Jap spec ones came with the pita immobilizer system. If yours is not Jap spec you will nedd the parts Jedduh quoted along with the cabin harness. As pick ups never came with injection what are you using for a fuel tank and pump assembly ?

I was able to fit it all in. Made a scoop out of galvanized steel to draw in the air and some supports for the computer.

Yup, that's what that is. Wish I had one on the Authi, the hand (thumb) pump to spray washer solvent worked but always had to prime back up (about 10 seconds after you really needed it).

Here is a picture of the one used in SPi and MPi mounted in the boot. I am guessing the antidrainback valve is the black device just upstream of the pump

Probably too big for a inner fender mount, but I like the bag idea.

(Side note)

If mounting inside the truck, it may be a good idea to put a one way (Anti-drainback) check valve. Pump will last longer, system will work more efficiently. Many new cars have them, available at many auto parts stores.(Farther away, higher risk of drain back)

Like this ebay listing for example >  //www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-C30-C70-S40-S60-S70-Windshield-Washer-Check-Valve-9178895-NEW-/251394145962?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a88423eaa&vxp=mtr

I think I would try one of the universal fitment bag type reservoirs and find a spot for it behind the seats. Here is a cheapo one with a self contained pump on ebay>>>//www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-12-Volt-Windscreen-Washer-Bag-Kit-/331138996312?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

There are other similar ones out there for more money, but that one looks like it would do the trick.

I don't know how weatherproof the SPI computers are, but we put the one for my Honda engine inside the car on the passenger side firewall.

The is a Spi wire harness for sale for $75 in the cars/parts section on this site. That may help you some for very little cash. That should be an awesome ride and reliable with the injected motor.

I will be putting an ECU computer under the hood in a 64 Traveller and I am also looking for alternative locations.

I plan to put both a radiator expansion tank and a washer reservoir in the fender well if at all possible.

Tried to put computer under hood of 63 Traveller but it looked funny so I took it back up to the office and put it back under the desk.

100% agree - Dirt Roads= wash screens./

Adding to the inner fender idea.  many cars today the bottles are buried in the inner wheel wells or lower bumper wells. with only a "fill tube" that pops up in the engine compartment.

Find a nice location out of the way for th ebottle - then have a snake fill tube up into the engine bay - with only a cap and funnel seen to fill the bottle from the engine bay.

( Just a picture of nearly the Idea )  - also on my wife's BMW

Another question - SPI ECU - SPI Harnes... Do you have- DId you get with the assembly the SPI KEY FOB + Remote Immobilizer Box...     That is a big hastle of later SPI Cars - as the immobilizer box is tied to the ECU - to Cut spark when Immobilized=  WIthout dis arming the system it WONT start -   That Immobilizer box on SPI 's lived in the Center of the dash In the kabin,

Just a thought.

Good info, keep it coming.

We get a lot of light drizzle, and with 80+% of the roads unpaved, the paved roads are always muddy, getting flung back on the windshields of cars behind or in the other lane, or so light that you can't just wipe it off without adding water, so I find it handy. Probably used my washer on the Grand Cherokee 10 to 20 times yesterday.

So there is supposed to be a plastic scoop inside the engine compartment? I found the pieces that go in the wheel well. Since it is a puzzle that I never saw put together, nor was all in the same "box" so to speak, it is a work in progress. Now that I'm part way through the wiring, I realize I should have bought an SPI wiring loom from the dash. I have the SPI engine one, but the 90 cabin half. They aren't close.

Yep, trunk would be out of the question. I guess I could think about the floor behind the driver's seat.

There is a tappered mounting for the washer bottle welded on the right fender.

Where did they put the washer bottle on SPI's?

Or can I make a bracket and put the computer in front of the washer bottle, bringing out a little diagonally in front of the vent intake?

Suggestions please.

They put the spi washer bottles in the trunk Richard which is not much use to you with a Pick up. They used to mount them on the firewall where the bank of relays sit on spi's. Someone posted an overflow bottle off a Polaris 4 wheeler that fitted next to the radiator maybe you could use that as a washer bottle. Other than those places the spi overflow tanks were mounted under the radiator fender maybe you could mount it there bit of a pia to fill up though or inside the truck next to the battery.

Helping Richard with a picture from his Website of his setup...

SPI Washer bottle is facctory located in the boot- YES in the boot behind the Right rear wheel inner arch.

the SPI Engine Computer goes at an angle in the current location of that bottle mount. under the booster

That air intake duct should also have a large plastic scoup that will duct air into the Duct. taking up even more valuable space.

1 - I can understand you are a very original builder wanting things right- but is a Washer bottle totally necessary? Here in the states i RARELY use ours as a pop in for fuel + with a wash of the screen while fueling up takes care of buggy windshield.

2- Will it mount on the firewall - as seen in that picture beside the brake booster bracket I feel as the booster is there now - the bottle wont fit anyhow.

3- Hide bottle in inner wheel well- Like under the big air duct- or even on the other fender well where theere is a SMALLER DUct.

4 Hide it inside the cabin. even with a diffferent bottle.

It is plastic bottle- Heat and reshape to fit!!! You're VERY crafty!

Goodluck
