Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there isn't value in it. One of the first things I did was fill in my profile. Big Al helped me find a couple worthy cars in my area because he knew where I lived rom my profile. I was just trying to end the anger of "new guys" not updating their profiles.... they can't... Minimania won't let them. That is all.

I agree but there are more than a few users who never fill out their profile in the first place and then their first post is asking for help and you have no clue where they are, i guess some users like the anonymity but it sure would help if it was a requirement when joining and filling out your profile.

CT, it's not the users that aren't updating their profile. I know that many people make that their first post to welcome new members, but it's frustrating when you go and try to change it and nothing happens and then you continually have people telling you to update your profile and it just doesn't work. You can say it till you're blue in the face, but MiniMania is the problem in this situation. When you go to update your profile it won't save it or show it on the board. I've said it quite a few times and I've sent a message to MM about it and yet here we are. haha. I no longer live in St. Louis area. I've moved 4 times since then. Still can't change it.

If/when you replace the jet, save the repaired one as a spare.

People get very nervous about fuel issues and I understand concerns about fuel leaks... particularly since any leak from a Mini carb is right over the exhaust.  However, keep in mind that the fuel in the float bowl is only under the head pressure of the 2" of fuel inside the bowl.  It turns out to be about 0.05 PSI pressure on that tubing joint.

I'll be the other voice.  The tubing on your jet may have just shrunk from age and become loose.  You can re-connect it or replace it completely.  If I remember correctly the tubing is just 3/16" diameter nylon tubing (double check the diameter measurement).  You can buy some of the material from McMaster-Carr.

As you said, the spring goes over the tubing for protection.  As Jeg said, the small brass sleeve goes inside the tubing, the tube goes in the plastic nipple on the jet itself, then the large brass ferrule goes over the plastic nipple.  When you have the parts assembled, you have to use a punch to gently drive the large brass ferrule down the plastic nipple so it collapses and holds the tube in place.  You can see some pictures and read additional information on the repair at the link below (1/3 way down the page).

agreed. Given the location of the potential fuel leak, I wouldn't trust it. Buy a genuine SU replacement jet. If that were to start leaking onto a piping hot header while you're out for a drive... well time to start looking for a new mini.

I'd buy a new jet -

Edit: that answer was a bit brief.  I've not seen a factory-fixed tube come separated from the jet assembly.  I imagine that you could possibly jam it back together, small brass bit inside the tube and press it together, but I woudn't trust it.

When trying to fire up the Mini for the first time in a long time i noticed that it was leaking fuel out of this line going into the bottom of the carburetor. Does anyone have a scematic or diagram I could use to see if i am missing any part of the hose connection.

The two small brass cylinders in the picture are what was holding the line into the hole. (or at least what was left)

The spring was just around the tube itself, possibly as protection.
