Soooo jealous.

My "brake fix" has escalated to a front suspension rebuild.

Very cool tool, much cooler then the harbor freight vacuum setup :-).

I did the bleeding last night with a pedal pusher last night, the pedal is just about the same.

I rebuilt the calipers before I installed them is it possible air is still in outside caliper piston?

I pressure bleed the system.

I will take a look at the rear cyls and check to see what is going on the disc too.

I put the caliper bleeders at the top.

Nice new rubber boots on the nice new rear cylinders can act as springs and pull the pistons back slightly away from the shoes. The adjusters only hold the shoes out near the drums. It makes it feel like you forgot to set up the adjusters.

I'm not sure if this applies to the current rear cylinders, but  try removing the back drums and gently pushing the boots in along the piston shafts so when they go to their relaxed position the pistons are not fully retracted.

Sometimes new caliper pistons can do the same. Check to see if, when the brakes are released, the pads stay in contact with the disks and can't be rattled against the pistons. When the wheels start to turn, the pads get pushed back from the disks. Disks that are not rue can also push the pads back too far.

I'm assuming you put the calipers on the proper sides of the car so the bleeders are in the correct orientation.  Others have been fooled by that.

Sounds like you still have air in the system. What method did you use to bleed it?

Replaced front brakes with disc from a 95 mini, new wheel cylinders in rear. Replaced the rear proportioning valve. Master cylinder replace about a year ago. Rear drums adjusted so the rear wheel can just turn while in the air.  Bleed all air out of system.

The issue is the pedal will be low and then I can pump twice and I get a nice pedal. With the all drum setup it was working fine.

What am I missing?
