any NGLI 1 or 2 lithium based grease will work fine

new ones are pretty cheap between about $10 and $12 each - triumph tr6 half shaft ujoints work or any derivative of neapco 344 sizes.

they are $11.99 for ones with a grease nipple at autozone

Definately no grease nipple on mine.

Should I just pack in some wheel bearing grease?

No pics showing Barri.

So what lubricant is used on the needle bearings?  I've not looked that closely yet, is there a grease nipple?

I use the QH5000 joints with Ujoints that have the nipple in the end cap.

as the QH joints have a big cap the nipple is very protected yet easy to get the grease gun to.

works well for me

cheers

The original Q.H. QL5000 yokes are no longer available (neither are their great steering rack boots), but the same thing is still available and under the same number. See on this site.

The QH needle bearing joints are better than the rubbish aftermarket rubber ones.
Can you still buy these joints since Quinton Hazell went broke?

Note you can repair the QH ones by pushing the 4 nylon cups off and fitting to a new U/J. I think are same joint as a Triumph TR6.

I always use the QH needle roller type as they dont swell and fall appart when the oil gets on them! dont do them up too tight though, there is a spec to do them up correctly.

Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

Out with the old, in with the new.......well not really new, a strong engine with a few new gaskets etc.

The perfect angle for a remote shift if you don't have the fancy dancy tool.  Water pump/generator hole and the clutch cover bolt shown.

OK, the output shaft/u-joint appeared to be the same when together...the fresh paint engine had the one piece unit.....the engine I pulled out had the type pictured...needle bearings are involved.  Are these two interchangeable? Is one type better than the other?  (I've only ever dealt with pots)
