Thank you @mystacreation for the part

I think i need to post my solution because it seems like in many topics on forums the solutions are not posted.

I purchased a rebuild kit and did a rebuild on the carb all the o rings were like plastic and almost brittle.

I'm pretty sure that was the problem.

While I poking around there i did replace the intake and exhaust gasket.

Runs great now

Thank you everyone for your advice

flipside I have an old HIF that's in pieces and not worth rebuilding.  Let me know if these are one of the screws you are looking for and you can have it.

Here's the screw that holds the bi-metalic strip - unless you're talking about a different screw.

Well for all you guys or girls talking about rich and lean screw adjustment on a Hif44. It's clock wise for rich and counter clock wise of lean. I had it marked on the card on a piece of masking tape.

The fuel mixture screw was working properly. Clockwise the jet goes down and counterclockwise jet goes up. I taken this carb apart many times. This is the first time I took apart the jet. The screw holding the jet broke as I tried unscrewing it. So I think I'm at the point that I need a new carb. Doesn't seem like they sell that special screw by its self. I'm. Going to look but so far I don't see anything to replace it.

If anyone has a spare screw. I'm interested in buying it from you.

If you're eating that you had better go and have a drive in the pink wonder before the morning as your arteries will be clogged by then and the only ride you will get is in the back of an ambulance to the local Hospital.
