Would that be Don Sobering's old (S&M) 970 doing it again?

They were ready with arguably 300 horses to push the envelope out to 175 mph...all out of a built, blown 970 with twin OH cam head.  Few other mods..tires from nose gear on a Lear Jet...

They set the new record of +146 mph two years ago and then hit 154 mph the next day on the 1st run, but no 2nd run.

Literally the 'flying brick'.

... a story that is too familiar and will never get better.

Since the heyday of Bonneville in the 60s, some total pillock allowed the bulding and operation of a brine plant on the salt flats.
Guess what idiots, the water gets replaced every year when it rains, but once the salt is gone, its gone...

Commercial vandalism of an irreplaceable natural landscape.

Hasn't Bonneville been run, yet? Why haven't we heard anything about the 970 runnng for a new record?
