Dan, its a worthwhile idea. A similar event was done a number of years ago by a guy named Paul Porter. Active on the local scene but moved away now. Miguel you may remember this. We met at the Swan south of Manotick. Miguel and his dad were there with the Moke. Simone was there with his Inno, myself (AWAJ647) and several others as you can see (if the linky works). I know there are still more cars in the Ottawa area. I dont have any contact info though.

Conceptual idea here:

"Mini desserts"... someone suggests a location and time for a mini Mini meet - for dessert. Post or circulate the suggestion. Anyone nearby with a Mini just gets there on their own if they can make it. No need for organizing a tour, cavalcade or whatever.  Of course the obvious introduction point would be arriving IN a Mini.

(Note I said "Mini", not "MINI".)

There are seveal Minis in the Ottawa area, but no Mini club. There wwas a MINI club, but they were mostly BINI owners with lots of cash who seemed to eat and drink alot. I met Miguel at one of their dinner meets but it didn't interest me.

It could work in other areas where Mini population is too sparse for a club, and avoids the problem of drinking and driving (wouldn't want to risk any Minis).

(Did I mention the ice cream in Almonte is excellent?)

Yes I can but HAH! I can do better (or is it worse?) than that... my sister worked in an ice cream store in Bell's Corners that was operated by Peterson's.

This mini is owned by Simone Felice, it's a very original Innocenti 1001 Export from 1974. Location fits as he lives in Almonte.

OK, perhaps I should have added "near" in the middle (or a hyphen) so it reads "Mini sighting near Almonte Ontario"

Is that better? (It was my day off!)

Hard to say Miguel... it might have been. The sun was directly behind us, so was reflecting off the on-coming Mini and I couldn't really tell wah the colour was. Who's car is that?

Hi Bill,

We were doing a Sunday tour ourselves. We were heading home (Bell's Corners) and had just had our ice cream fix. You know from where.

Cheers, Dan

Wow! A shoutout to Almonte on the forum. My adopted home town. Thanks Dan. Mine is blue with white roof but it wasn't me. Its in the garage. It was such a beautiful day that maybe it was someone out on tour. Not familiar with that car.

4:00pm today, westbound on the Carp - Almonte Road. Looked to be metallic light green or light blue. We were going the other way on a dark blue Suzuki.....  I managed a quick 'thumbs-up' and they were goooonne.
