not sure if this is the right place for this but couldn't find a lot of guides for this car so i figured id try to make a little write up in case someone was considering doing this.

req's-
-full tool kit im not sure of sizes  but you will need torx bits and a ratchet
-1 cone filter, i chose spectre because it was a little cheaper and there is no real reason to waste to much money on this(IMO)
purpose
throatier sound,washable filter,bordem.ect(possible power gain/quicker response)

obvious disclaimers are obvious

note: you can leave the silencer and tube connected but you will loose some cool air to the engine since the line will not be used,i removed mine after the photos were taken.

intro:i edited pictures because i for one am a visual learner and wanted to keep it simple

step 1:stock air box removal+airbox head removal
step 1 instructions
if you choose to remove the tubes they can be a bit tricky just be gentle with any wiring.
the coolant box  lifts up and pulls out towards the engine but doesnt go far(it should not leak at al!)

step 2:setting up the cone and maf
assuming you took the maf off the down pipe by loosening the hose clamp your bay should look like this.(if you left the stock piping)
prep'd bayprep'd bay

at this point you will remove the rubber O ring and slide on the con as shown in the pic below
maf
when done should look like the pic below :]
finished maf

step 4:literally the opposite of step 1
-slide maf back into downpipe, tighten hose clamp,re-attach maf, double check both hose clamps
re-attach

step 5:enjoy

assuming you did everything right and air tight and did not damage the maf you should be good to go!
the idle is still quite but is MUCH louder when you go into the gas. the sound is rather quite in drive if you are easy on the gas so you dont always have to wake your family and the people next door. but sport mode will now sound and feel like a proper sport mode with a nice low exhaust tone with a slight gurggle like that of a wrx.

i cannot say if there was any power gain all i can say is my cooper seems to pick up a smidge faster and the sound puts a giant grin on my face and prolly aids in the illusion of going faster but who knows.

final note:after testing in town and on the highway ive had no heat issues nor was i pestered with a droning exhaust(to my suprise once your at speed it quites right down) im super pleased for the price payed and it was easy enough to do myself and more so happy i didnt have to mod the exhaust so it is easy enough to swap back and forth when inspection rolls around. :3 happy motoring <3
