Coming out of the motor (not the park switch) are 3 wires.

Blue - Ground
Red - Slow
Yellow - Fast

From another forum -  prior to 1968 Lucas did month & year. Then in 1968+ changed to week & year.

So 9 60 = Sept '60, 42 68 = wk42 of '68

The date stamp on the component is the date the component was made. In some cases the number represents the month but in other cases it represents the week of the year. I don't know when they went away from the month representation to week representation and if it was done uniformly on all components.

I think what Alex said on that other thread was that the date stamp shows when the component was made NOT when the car was built.

All Lucas electrical paarts had the date stamp on them.

So if you examine every item, and find that most parts are coded "4 75", is a fair assumption that the car is early 1975 - but there are no guarantees.

Some people on here can estaimate the date of a shell from the FE number, or date of the original car from the VIN or chassis number.

Alex posts in another thread that the date stamped on certain parts, eg:boot latch, wiper motor , may not be the actual build date-

This certainly comes as NEWS to me, but what do l know, l was only in the U K once for 24 hours and l was pissed the whole time, something about a Britt Ekland look a like with high boots ?

I don't have information for the 70 thousand number for Minis later than Mk II, but best guess is that this would be Mk III and one speed/self parking. I have one from May '75 numbered 75738J with the arrow pointed the same way. It's single speed. self park on the left hand side, which would make the car a RHD.

Yes on the build date. No help on the MK 3/4 issue as i cant remember if the MK 3's had the single sweep feature or not.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Was cleaning up the basement and came across this wiper motor

Would I be correct that this would be a November 1975 build?

If that's the case...would this be a 1976 model year and a MkIV or still MkIII car? ( or would the motor be identical either way)
