10/40 is the recommended oil for an auto...especially a later one

It should clarify this if/in your car came with it's Drivers Manual

"WET COOPER", Partsguy1 (Terry Snell of Penticton BC ) - Could you send the money for the unpaid parts and court fees.

Most Mini auto owners use 10w40 in the colder climates in the hotter climates 20w50 is used a lot. Change the oil every 1500 miles.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

make a car lighter and it's faster everywhere. Colin Chapman.

10/40  Castrol
I think Rotella 15/40 may be a good choice also

And change it often....like every 2500km is what I did

( This is assuming you mean automatic gearbox )

I know this is a highly debated subject. What brand and types of oil do you use in your MINI auto. I have a 1990 japanese mini 1000. I have heard valvoline VR1 and Kendall GT1 are the best to use. These are not readily available in my area. What do you think of STP? I know it has to be 20w50. I just want something readily available that I can get at the store. Thanks!
