Jamal!

Can you tell me anything else about my car, then?

The good and the bad?

I'm knee deep in it now, so don't worry about shocking me.

That's a 998... I looked it over for the owner when it was for sale... not in person mind you, but a late 80s car...

Easteregg,

1) ignore mini4ever, please. He is a troll. That's all I will say about him.

2) post a picture of your engine and specifically the stamped number plate on the front right of the block (by the upper radiator hose and alternator) and we'll tell you what your engine is.

YES, definitely an 850cc mini will do 60 or even pass 60mph ,or even 85, provided you have to be in san francisco, driving down a 50degree angle road, and there's should be a windstorm behind you, and you have to floor the gas pedal as much as you can, and your exhaust should be a straight pipe(no muffler), you also need to remove the windshield and back window so there will be no wind resistance.,the wind will go through and through...You only need to wear eye protection, nothing else. NO helmet!!, because helmet will produce wind resistance as well.. trust me, i did this trick going down the hill of Julian Mtn California. with my 998 mini.... a blast!!
"Wrong Again".
You have absolutely no idea what an 850cc car can do.  My 850 was a wagon, carrying 2 occupants on level ground on a 4-lane highway with no hill to assist acceleration. All the windows were in the car and it had the stock pea-shooter exhaust system (longer on a wagon). The engine was also completely stock as it came from the factory. Oh, and I don't believe for a minute your Mini could get to California from where you apparently live.

Why is everyone saying 850cc? Is that what I have? I thought it was a 998cc?

I'm going to feel like a dummy if I'm wrong.

sir Dan, i hate that Cop who gave you a ticket, he did'nt even gave you that very very rare chance to do 70 on a 85o mini., i mean, an 850 mini can only do 70mph for only about 5 minutes, pass that,it will overheat. and the cop just heartlessly stopped you? that cop is so killjoy.

"Life begins at 60" (old saying)

Mini fun begins at 60 too! An 850cc engine will take a Mini above 60... I almost had a ticket once to prove it would do over 70. Just in time, I noticed a cruiser in my left blind spot, just setting up to clock me (in the days before police radar).

Many years ago, front spoilers (aka "chin") were added to block/divert air from passing under the car. The intention was to increase down-force on the driving wheels for better road adhesion.  Side skirts were also tried.

Maybe above 150 mph....

It's not slowing down your car any more than a negligable amount. If youblike the way it looks, keep it. Yes, similar body kits are still avaikable, but mostly sourced outside the United States.

This is what the sides look like. Will try to get a picture of the front. Its fiberglass.

Wait...are you serious about slowing it down (other than a negligible amount)?

Body kit is just a valance over the bumper that gives the appearence of lowering it.

I like the look of it. And, I don't know what I would do with the sides without it

My question is:

Are these things available anymore? if so, from where?

Thanks

It is pretty hard to tell from one photo, especially from such a high angle. It could be a name-brand or a knock-off.
Suggest you post pics from 'road level' - closer view of front chin at wheel arch flare, back view etc.

Been working on finishing this thing. I'm terrified to break the body kit cus I have no idea what kind it is. Any ideas?
