I should add that josh did NOT use a mintec subframe, though.

There's a guy up in SLO, Tyler at Gildred Racing, who has also put an auto w/ AC in a classic but he used a mintec kit as the starting point.

Jason Neuman did one a few years back that he sold and it ended up in California. It was a all steel Estate yellow with a black roof but i don't remember if the front was lengthened.

The solution?? Put the automatic engine in the rear.  Problem solved!! And it will eliminate the torque steer as well.

There is no "of course" about it; it is barely possible. Josh has a full R&D shop capability and is VERY tallented; are you able to sand-cast a 4 cylinder intake manifold and do the necessary machine work, injector bosses, etc, and end up with a manifold that actually has the correct fit and dynamics? I doubt it. BTW, he is still working on the conversion after almost a year, and he never would have taken the job if he wasn't getting 100,000$ for doing the impossible. I doubt he would ever do another one for that. You can fix your "A" series automatic many times over for that kind of money. As I said before, there are serious compromises required; that means the end result will be border line functional at best; there just isn't enough room to do it right. If you want an automatic, you would be much better off starting off with one of the 3 cylinder engines available between 1000 and 1300 CC, like the Swift/Sprint or one of the newer makes.

heres why i want to do it
BJ doesn't answer emails or FB msg and eveytime i got around to call, hes either working or not free

it is not a stupid conversion for me because i already have a B18C minitec mini saloon. and many other stick shift sports cars

my plan is to take apart the MTB2 kit i got in my vtec mini, and make the D16 auto fit and put it into my traveller
then Z-car the saloon.
then i have a 2000 last 500 4spd mini for collection.

auto is for ease of driving....traveller isnt a race car anyways.

thx for everyones helpful input, i will hit up josh

It is possible with severe compromises, but vastly easier to learn how to drive a stick. You will also have less maintenance, better performance, and economy. BTW, it is also far easier to move to a cooler climate than it is to install effective AC and an automatic D-series, then lying to somebody when you inevitably try to sell your bodge to some poor fool.
