An as others claim, this will "work" but it will not move air as effectively as it should. I already had the front up in the air for another repair, so why not tear it apart.

drained coolant .  I have the two piece radiator shroud.{OH NOOO}

Took everything apart. and there it was PROOF...my fan was on backwards.

imbossed  /  printed in the hub of the fan says "engine side"

this is where people talk about smooth side to the engine. Here is a shot of the smooth side of the fan.  Should be towards the belt.

Here is the BACKSIDE of the fan... towards the radiator. I had this facing the pulley which is WRONG<  OH NO...

NOW ,  this will allow me to TEST the effectiveness of flipping the fan over.. I never had any issues with overheating... well never pushed issue of overheating.  I dont drive my mini over 90 degree days. " too hot to ride in the box " i have other cars with AC.

I have always had an issue... temps climb when sitting in traffic, but easily pull down when moving. SO im more curious if this will help that issue. Push more air at idle, but doubtful.

The only concern I have now, is wil the fan stil be close enough to the radator like it should, or does fliping it change the spacing... Time to go put it back together and find out.

Hope this helps some people out, and can use this to identify their fans direction.   Really if you look closely at the blades.. they do have sort of a cup to them but thats too complicated.  Smooth side to the Engine...

Thumbs up on an excellent post with pics to boot.

Make you check for proper alignment or you'll be going through several of those yellow things.

Get it as close to the radiator as possible, some Mini's have a spacer to help achieve that the blades should not protrude past the shroud.
