You guys need to think out of the box. It's a lot cheaper to get out and pour a gallon of water over the engine every five miles. You can get empty jugs from behind restaurants for no money, i am saving up for two matching spark plug leads but it's hard to find them sold individually.
Since I am here just to help, I discovered a black plastic cap on top that will take a lot of water in it too, better circulation probably. You can learn so much by doing. Since I am the only one here with his fan on the right way my oil pressure is always cool, down to the 0lbs mark.
jeg as usual tries to insult me talking about short screws. He has no right to bring up my honeymoon.
wow todd! that is a really nice engine you got there. so flawless!.. is that your 64 rally replica? the one paddy drove in san francisco? (of ALLL states in the US, why san francisco?????????) hmmm???? made me think
Because he probably got a good source of income and CAN afford to keep a nice replica and live in that beautiful city. Where are you from again??
Which Asian country did you come from? You are so rude and inappropriate. I hope the rest of your countrymen arent like you.

There you go again with your innuendo's.

Perfect timing this week! Found this great condition copper radiator on Craigslist. Pressure tested, No leaks, very clean inside. The radiator came from this mini 61 mini racecar that was at Coronado speedway last year. anyone know what kind of radiator this is? Doesn't look original. It says Continental Rad. on Top and appears to have a drain plug underneath adnd the mounts on the side looks different too. Inside there's a flat metal that says "water level" where the coolant level has to be. The rows of those holes inside appear to be 3 in a row. I already sent my other radiator for repairs to be overhauled. I like the old one because of the bigger two core holes. Might keep that as a spare and try this out.
I'm gonna pay him another visit and buy more parts as they are getting rid of a few items they don't need because of racing reasons. I like staying with copper rads because they can be re-cored (repairable) unlike the aluminums that are "throw aways" if it breaks.
Don't tell Boison it's one of his pet peeves. He will be wanting to trade you something.
It should say Coventry radiator on the top, usually a good radiator.

Looks Identical to the Radiator that came in / with my moke.
Another moke specialist saw my car - noticed the two dimples above the water outlet and claimed it was Original - 66'
So - Early - Quality - Brass dude that does the job well

Yes sir I still have the two piece shroud. I'll look into it thanks! Anything to make it painless. I know a local guy here who does good repairs on these old radiators. See if it can be repaired and keep it as a spare.
You have to change the lower mount as well, instead of the two fiddly bolts you end up with one easy to get to 3 inch or so bolt with a pointed end to make staring the bolt and installing it easy peasy.
Damn i still don't get it... *scratches my head*
Your shroud lower half gets bolted to the support bracket with two short bolts with their axis parallel to teh crankshaft. The single piece shrouds have two tabs hanging down and a long bolt that goes in from the front of the car.

I never did find the source. Strangely, it has stopped. I don't know why. The level stays the same now (it would go down when there was evidence of a leak on the floor, the matrix would become exposed inside). Now the matrix stays covered all of the time, and no leak.
Didn't do anything, so just keeping an eye on it.

If you have the 2 piece early shroud and are not concerned with originality convert it to the one piece shroud as fitted to the later Mini's which is far easier to work with. If you get rid of the inner fender lip/shroud you can remove the radiator with the shroud still attached if you have the plastic fan, it makes a miserable job a whole lot quicker and easier.

Could've gotten worse because of the engine vibration. I'm not really looking forward to spending $300 something for a radiator yet but this is better than a blown gasket :(

X 2 what John said those screws should only be about 1/4" to maybe 3/8" long.

I was just gonna ask about that because not too long ago I replaced the fan and took those shrouds off but that was over a month ago already but I'm removing the radiator anyway and pressure test it. I'll check if one of the screws pinched a hole.
