Oh nice. I didn't know that. It probably is him. I saw his name on the results list from lime rock, where that picture was taken. I'm just bad at remembering names. The only other orange BMW I run with is a 2002.

If you do end up at the track this weekend, come by. I usually paddock near the pyramid. Look for this rx-7 and a green pickup truck.

I suppose I might as well introduce myself too, since I'm not quite old yet. I'm Drew. I'm 26. I've been an IT racer for the last 3 years and have been in the sport for about 10. I'm kicking around the idea of building a pro-motive car.

I saw your location in your profile. It looks like we know a few of the same people (namely Jon with the b-spec fiesta). I do a good amount of racing at WGI. I'll be there this weekend, actually.

Hey now Trevor... All of us "old farts" were once 21 years old... And, if you keep messing around with old British cars for decades, 21 doesn't seem like that long ago....

Now, where did I leave that Geritol??? Maybe next to the Depends.

You know you're starting to get old when....

Your body creaks and squeaks and leaks more than your Mini does.

( I am 21 for the 3rd time as of yesterday!)

(Edit: Neither I nor my Mini leak!)

Woah Woah Woah, enjoiskatin2. There are some more young guns on here! Im only 25 not that old yet. Gregg welcome to the madness, the only issue i see is the want for more than one... i have 2. well and a Bini. Ive owned for 9 years now. Definately an eye catcher and yes if you dont have a hunchback and can talk to the opposite sex in full sentences you will do just fine with the mini. Cheers and good luck.

Nice to have all this Feedback!

racingflea - I appreciate the offer but right now, i am more looking for some more that are road worthy so I can get more of what to look for when test driving one. I have a guy here locally that has one parked and we changed the fuel pump Last saturday. Then found out that the shocks were rubbing into the fender wells, so we couldnt drive it.

Bugs - Thanks for the welcome and I will deffintly try to make it to all the events here locally so that I can learn more before I purchase one.   Do you know what day the event will be held?

enjoiskatin2- It is awesome to see someone else close my age who could give me some feedback! I was wondering if I could get your digits and could text and ask ya some more stuff!

Headstay - I am Staying away from Bill Cox lol and I am not currently ready to purchase one but will be come tax season 2013!

kd - Sweet! I love it! I am so ready to get one!

Welcome Gregg!  It's great to see the next generation find an interest in little British cars, especially Minis! Please find the thread about CMU, Classic Minis United. There is an event coming up in November in Georgia. You should find a way to be there and meet some of the really great Mini crowd. You could probably bum a ride on one of their exciting drives that will be scheduled.

As Cooper Tune says, watch out for ol' Bill Cox at Monte Carlo Minis.  He threatens and harrasses Mini hobbyists, especially anyone buying and selling them, that he fancies is "competition".  He filed a complaint ten years ago with state of CT DMV saying I was an illegal, unlicensed dealer.  Truth is, that in CT you can sell as many cars as you want without a STEALERWS license, so long as you title each one in your name and pay the 6% sales tax.  I would check out the 998 that Cooper Tune has offered.  He's a straight shooter, and does all his own wrenching, unlike Cox....

Dan,

I think Keith was attracted to something else other than my Mini. But he had a Mini too and it is because we were both at the club that we met, married and live, eat and breathe Minis since 1979.

Keith bought his mini to replace his Mustang in 1976. As reliable cheap transport.

When I bought my Mini; it was only supposed to be a means of cheap transportation to college at the time.

I do agree about people stopping us to ask questions. You can never just whip in to the gas station for a fill up. Now with cell phones there is always someone taking my picture.

Last week I drove to my mothers and back 9km. There is a lot of condo construction on the main road and every worky Joe admired the car and gave me the thumbs up.

So if you do buy a Mini get ready to be the center of attention.
