Maybe it's a common spot, I don't know.

Cool pictures, thanks for sharing.

I think it's a common spot - doesn't Air2Air have his here also?  This is a very fast local racer's car.

I chose silver themed stickers (Yokohama, Sparco, Omega & Castrol) mostly to avoid the multi-colored 'Walt Disney Effect' and because I thought it'd look smashing on the black rattle-can paint.

Cool seeing all of your first minis. I dont have much of a history with them other than the fact that I love them. The one I own now is my first one. Here she is.

George, it's a 63 Mk1 .

Been on a few wine tastings neat Portland, great wine country and roads.

And wine  .

Only know 1 wine joke, when you drink Noir, you pee (Pinot) Noir.

Groan, even I think that's bad.

Wife and I get to Portland every few years (good friends live there) may give you a shout.

SXSMAN "What year is your current car ? Also, there are some pretty cool roads around SF, must be a blast to drive there."

1979 originally Canadian, now many upgrades. In SF it took about 45 minutes, at least, to get to any fun roads, but then yes, they were fun. In 2008 I moved to Beaverton (Portland) Oregon, and even better roads are now less than ten minutes away. And wineries.

So many Minis back in the days of C-Sedan. And more in D-Sedan!

You can see the slight roll-over in the pic of the first car. Hope you were ok.

Seems like only the old timers remember C sedans, that's what my car was.

First Mini, 850, 1968. Second Mini, SCCA C-Sedan, built 1970 and campaigned Midwest Division until 1977. Sometime in '75 or '76 bought a '66 Cooper S, and an 850 "parts car" that ran. Had to sell all four when I moved from Kansas City to San Francisco and was parking on the street. Got my current car in 2004.

Hi SxS,

Unfortunately, no. Our 3 Minis were sold at the begining of 2001 before we moved to Canada.

This was the third one, a  very rare 1994 Mini Cord John Cooper, wich came factory equipped with the John Cooper Conversion Kit for the 998 engine.

This is the car I miss the most, the Moke too.

The roof on the moke was actually steel. I know 2 roofs were custom made, the other one was in a Yellow Moke. The Moke was owned by Roberto Guerrero's father. he had a company that made fiberglass tops for Jeeps and Pickups, making it odd he made this one in steel.

It was pretty well made, It did not shake, warped, or creaked and, surprisingly pretty compared to ther Moke hard tops I have seen. Side were canvas. The down side, it was not easy to remove.

That's  how the Moke looks today.

Miguel, two very nice looking rides. I'm diggin the smooth top on the sedan. Also the two tone on the moke.

That also looks like a fiberglass top on the moke (is that an after-market item ?). Or a one off ?

Do you still own both ?

SxS

And Dimitris, no pot, was never my thing (I've tried it, makes me ). Might have had some Red Stripe, Molson or Labatt's though. Those were also the days (and nites) of Jack Daniel's.

Ahh, my misspent youth. Those were some good days (and nites) .

And this was the first Mini in our house and the car I learned how to drive. a Mini Cord SB 1993

I recently bought a new printer (with scan) and thought I'd give it a try.

Year was 1980 or 81, was getting the mini ready for a road trip to Rice Lake in Ontario Canada. Two friends rode in the back seat, I remember it being about a 17 hour drive. Potty, fuel and food were the only stops.

Car was a 69 Authi, did great-no problems. Nothing special about the picture, it's what you don't see. The guy I bought it from had 4 A/C Cobras. 1 289, 3 big blocks. Told me they were his retirement. I remember asking what he'd sell one for, told me $15,000. Ahh, to have had 15k. And to have one now. But you know the ole saying "Wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which hand fills first".

Any how, a good time was had. On the way home my friends informed told me they'd like me to be the first to know they were getting married and Mike asked if I'd be the best man.

The one pic is of me (about 21 years old) at Rice Lake in a boat, second is at their wedding about 2 months later (went back to the scruffy look soon after).

It's been a number of years since I've talked with Mike or Bonnie, still think about the trip, the Authi, and my old friends from time to time.

Only negitive was the BLACK FLIES ! Got so bad fishing I threw the rod down and jumped in the lake.

Wicked little suckers, wicked I tell you !

I came to Minis late in life... That said, I had worked on loads of them over the years and restored one for my sister in law, and a second one for my friend John who took home a prize at last years ABFM (reaching around to pat own self on back)...

My first "Mini" was an MG1100, which I don't even have a photo of... Current MG1100 was bought on eBay in 2004 and I restored it

My first actual Mini was a Wolseley hornet

Jemal- You come with an amazing pedigree! Your first "hot rod" sighting was a Mini? In Bulgria? What are the odds?! Great travel story—I'd watch those slides. And handsome family too? You are blessed, young man.
