"Throw out stop nut out of adjustment? That'll turn the pedal into a rock..."

Yes... but that locks the clutch engaged.  By the reference to "...and I could still shift into any gear as if in neutral. (verto).." suggests the clutch is disengaged.

.. more input needed...

Cheers, Ian

ZPH probably has it. Its 18 in the picture. You need to loosen off the lock nut 19 then loosen 18 so it doesn't hit the clutch cover when you step on the pedal.

Could be the slave cylinder is siezed or the clutch throwout plunger. Disconnect the slave push rod from the clutch arm. Check if the slave moves when you step on the clutch.

the clutch pedal is a rock.....moves maybe 1/2 inch. When I then bled the system, as soon as I loosened the bleeder valve on the slave, the clutch pedal would go to the floor and fluid flowed freely into the bleeder bottle. I pumped the pedal until no bubbles, then cranked her up and once again the pedal wouldn't move and I could still shift into any gear as if in neutral. (verto)

bad slave? frozen plate? Any help most appreciated.
