So I'm confused.............should I not use full throttle when I'm trying to go fast? is that bad for my engine? and my old 850's used to love WOT usually it was the only way to get out of the way.....................................
it's longevity issue Paul, if you want your little tiny 850 to last longer, quit WOTing!... plus we're not 16y anymore, it's hard to control a fast car.
WOT is a mortal sin to do in any vehicle. gosh! am i the only one sober here? lol
You would really have to work at killing an 848. But, I'm sure you could manage. [rolleyes]
BTW, we haven't seen the Pink Pride in action lately.

at my scooter forum, i always scold members who do wot on their scoters. wot is simply punishing.
So, you give crap advice over there too?
now i know the cause and source of the oil leaks...
Please educate us doctor. What is the connection between throttle position and oil leaks?

jeez i'd rather improve on the gears rather than the engines Horse Power department. Are you serious? these cars like to drive with wot? omg, i didn't know this is happening., at my scooter forum, i always scold members who do wot on their scoters.
wot is simply punishing.
now i know the cause and source of the oil leaks...
but anyway, to each his own right?

"Huh??? Dan, we all know very well how damaging the WOT is to the engine, i wouldn't dare do that if i love and care for my mini.
These cars love to drive with WOT and will happily do it all day long. With the aerodynamics of a brick, you won't likely reach redline in high gear.
Is there a way to increase the gearing to 5th or 6th?"
Yes, expensive. Move along now sonny.

sorry, i didn't know that WOT is normal on minis, thats too harsh for a tiny 850.., if only i have the money and capacity to manufacture a super duper powerful, small and reliable engine for minis ill do it. Vtecs and Busa engines are mostly for people who wants to race and prove "something" and not for cross country trips.
BMW should've retained the size and shape of the original minis and just upgrade the engines and suspension to modern specs, they would've sold more units than the BINIS.

Yes buy a Honda and go to their forums. BTW 850's love to run wide open.
If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

make a car lighter and it's faster everywhere. Colin Chapman.

oh mygad jeg, an 850 will run 35mph max in the highway,....
My first Mini, a Mk I Countryman with an 850 cc on a magic wand transmission and with 10" base-ply tires would do over 70mph. Absolutely stock, right down to the small standard exhaust. So an 850 Saloon could easily do at least 70mph.
at Wide open throttle?
Yes. How else would you expect to go fast? The point is, it would do twice the 35mph speed you suggested. Easily.

you think we have not seen idiots like this before? at least this keeps most of the riff-raff in one thread...
really sharp looking car, Armycook. generator to alt sound like a great mod to me.
I'm pale white.
Thanks Lurch! the conversion wasn't easy for me at first. Boison: I worked in Irvine as a web developer few years back and I honestly admit I struggled there because it was expensive that I had to do side jobs as a photographer but very nice place to live.
So where is this thread going now?

Tony I'm from Irvine. You can't afford Irvine. Especially with only two degrees... you're gonna have to make some more.
There are a couple car washes that are hiring but that work requires greater mechanical knowledge than you have.

i know you are just challenging the mods with your words, if AA give in to your words, you win. and you made him obey what you say..
a classic example of "reverse psychology"
i'm moving to Irvine Ca. soon...
Did you get booted out of Yuma?
Shucks, I was thinking of moving to Yuma.
I'm actually looking for a set of twin leading shoe drum brakes and and 850 w/rod change in order to take my mini with me when I eventually move back to the States. We could have hung out together, bought matching T-shirts and cruised Penitentiary Road to the mission.
- oh, wait, that'll never happen - Tony doesn't do T-shirts...
oh mygad jeg, an 850 will run 35mph max in the highway, itll take you months to arrive to yuma. but if you are serious in moving ill be glad.. ill bring you to glamis where we can play our gas rc cars. but ill be wearing a tshirt now just in case , so ill look good in candid shots

ewwwwwwww
It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.
