E.. I just put offer on two california mokes with gavi bodies.. from www.gumtree.com.au  will cost me about $11k AUS..each   which is about $8k USD.. add $2k for shipping to savannah ga.. $10 TOTAL and both were frame off nut and bolt restos.. I pay Cargo on line..in brisbane OZ  and then they pay the customer when they BRING the mokes to the port.. and inspected them and make sure the vin plates match the Queensland MOT regs..   why would I buy two PIGS in poke/ mokes from park mormon utah.. with NO photos??

Over 10 years ago when it was more practical to import a Mini from the UK, the collective board mantra was buy a ticket and look at what you are buying. I think the same applies here in the US, go take a look.

If I had the money I would have driven the 12+ hours to Utah and looked at them with cash in hand.

Someone willing to invest some time, could get an interesting car or cars.

norm.I really do NOT care what you think..btw   who would be STUPIC enough to buy two UNKNOWN mokes without PHOTOS.. photo of the vin plate and photo of the US/ UK title?? btw.  I have seen lots  of SCAMs come and go in the last 20 years on MM..  I could name at LEAST  TEN guys that took deposits and then did RUNNER here from MM..  with the money. and this sure SPELLS like it..  walks like  a duck.. quacks like a duck. might be a duck..

I just read this thread from the beginning, for the first time.

Wow, thewarewolf, you sure are being pushy and rude to fatal1ty, you don't seem to realize that he is about 1000 miles away from the cars and is working on getting photos from the storage lady. Taking photos of stored cars isn't really in her job description, so it shouldn't be such a surprise that the turnaround time for them isn't fast enough for you.

If someone is interested in the cars they should get in touch with fatal1ty off line and do the deal, and then tell us how it turned out (with photos!).

Since fatal1ty hasn't posted anything here since the 6th, maybe that is indication that that is exactly what has happened?

That looks like a non galvanized Choke Chinese (Australian copy) shell to me, a dead giveaway is the bracing between the wheel wells and the lack of side storage doors. He used the shorter UK Moke trailing arms instead of the longer Aussie ones on it which look stupid. You can build a car onto a new shell using the points system in the UK and it is perfectly legal, however who knows what are the original parts from the 66 Moke registration and vin numbers used he could have well used other parts hence the 998 cc engine.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Tmsmith,

I read the link you posted, can't get my head around this obvious re-vin, so they started with the front and rear subframe from a 1964 morris Moke and everything else was new ?

I'll wait to find one local, not going to do all the import stuff, no patience and with my luck I'll be in Nigeria when the ship arrives and the whole shebang will get impounded or some such stuff.

Thanks though.
